What Causes Back Pain?
The back has many bones, joints, ligaments and muscles. You can sprain ligaments, strain muscles, rupture disks, and irritate joints, all of which can lead to back pain. While sports injuries or accidents can cause back pain, sometimes the simplest of movements (like turning around quickly) can have painful results. In addition, arthritis, poor posture, obesity, and psychological stress can cause or aggravate back pain.
Pilates is fantastic therapy for back issues. Common issues are:
• a slipped disk
• a herniated disk
• stenosis (degeneration of the spine)
• stress
The pilates practice focuses on breathing, posture, stretching and alignment relieving spine compression and allowing for blood blow to create a long and lean effect.
